Patricia Pamela Petraglia, age 71, of New Canaan, was found sitting in a vehicle in the driveway of a Silvermine Road residence on Monday, March 4 after leaving a crash in Darien.

According to Lt. Marc DeFelice of the New Canaan Police, officers spoke with the operator and identified her as Petraglia.

Officers detected that Petraglia was impaired, however it was not due to alcohol. In plain view, officers observed numerous prescription bottles in the center console area of the vehicle,  DeFelice said.

Based on the investigation, probable cause was established, DeFelice said. Petraglia was placed under arrest and transported to New Canaan Police Headquarters and charged with illegal operation of a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

During the booking process, Petraglia provided a breath and urine sample.

Petraglia was released on a $357 bond.
